When dogs see things in red they may sometimes act irrationally.
If you should search for:
Why do dogs pee on targeted objects?
One would be likely to get results such as: (a) They're definitely marking their territory. (b) they are covering up a previous smell, And; (c) When a male dog goes sniffing about and smells the odor of another male dog, he gets a bit nervous of another male being in the neighborhood, and in defense covers over the odor with his own.
But there is yet another possible explanation which I haven’t seen here, In Jamaica it is said that if someone eats Red (smoke) Herring they are at high risk of having a dog sneaking up from behind and peeing on them. So, beware, be very aware. Don’t go eating Red (smoke) herring and then putting on your bright red shirt and go lie sun-bathing in the park next to the neighborhood dog-run.
Question; do you have any anecdotes of dogs seeing red or peeing dogs of your own which you’d like to share with us? Leave your responses and comments below.
